Rick is a lifelong native of rural Northeast Alabama. His songs draw from the world of mill workers, all-night Gospel singings, strip mines, and timeless stories of loss and forgiveness. Songs like “Best a Man Can Do”, “Daddy Tears”, and “Better with Age” have garnered praise from songwriting luminaries such as Beth Nielsen Chapman, Darrell Scott, and Verlon Thompson.

In addition to performances at the Bluebird Cafe, Rick was named a SongTown Townie Award finalist for Americana Song of the Year in both 2025 and 2026, as well as a 2026 finalist for Songwriter of the Year. From historical shores to paint flakes on the front porch, Rick’s work delivers deeply rooted, narrative songwriting that connects immediately with listeners.
